Our Opportunity
 
As our Trainee Buyer, you will develop buying skills, learn to manage a supply base and understand financial accountability. 
You will work closely with your Buyer, providing assistance with the product development process (Jackets) as well as administration responsibilities for all categories. 
 
 
Continuing your development and growth pathway towards a future Buyer role, you will demonstrate an understanding of fashion trends and a creative and innovative mindset. Your passion, planning and organisational skills will be on show as will your sound relationship building capabilities.
 
Your day-to-day will include:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of fashion trends as they relate to the Suzane Grae customer
  • Communicate creative input and innovation for all product development as required
  • Demonstrate an understanding of product construction, fabric/materials and their performance
  • Display effective analysis of range planning, quantification and forecasting
  • Administration associated with the effective management of critical path
  • Ensure everything is prepared for weekly sales meetings e.g reports, products, merchandise racks
  • Raise and amend orders at the direction f the Buyer
  • Liaise closely with graphic designers and factories to ensure artwork files are prepared
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with all suppliers 
  • Maintain and develop effective internal relationships
 
To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • Previous experience in the fashion industry as a Trainee Buyer or Buying Assistant
  • Fashion/Design/Merchandising dip[loma or Business Degree/relevant qualifications 
  • Previous experience working in a print focused role 
  • Experience liaising with graphic designers and understanding of artwork preparation for print
  • Basic proficiency in Adobe Photoshop ( experience in recolouring and adapting files)
  • Understanding of buying/planning principles
  • Direct sourcing experience with overseas suppliers desirable
  • Understanding of critical path
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Customer focused 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
